Using our Videos

While video content on this website is copyright-protected, all our videos are downloadable at Vimeo and may be used for non-commercial purposes such as teaching, as long as the videos are not modified in any way (see a more detailed explanation below).

More specifically, our videos are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License.
Creative Commons License

Attribution Example, With Links: Meadow Portal, by Miracle of Nature is licensed under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0.

Note: While we cannot prevent you from modifying downloaded videos, we greatly discourage it and our Creative Common license prohibits distribution of such derivatives. We are allowing our videos to be used by teachers (and others) as a service to the world at large. Please do not undermine our work by removing our branding or otherwise masking the source of our creations.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD OUR VIDEOS:

For a particular video, click on the “Vimeo Logo” and you will be taken to that video’s location on Vimeo’s website. Scroll down below the video and look for the download button. Tap that button and then choose resolution. The downloaded file will be an MP4 and should be playable on your computer and easily integrated into presentation programs such as Powerpoint (for PCs) or Keynote (for Macs).

Please make good use of our videos and be sure to always credit the source, Miracleofnature.org, and encourage folks to visit our website and support our cause.

USING OUR VIDEOS FOR TEACHING:

Our Creative Common license specifies that downloaded videos are not to be used for commercial purposes, such as inclusion in products that are offered for sale or use in tv productions or other video productions of a commercial nature. But what about classroom use, or incorporating videos into presentations at nature centers, birding festivals and the like?

If a presenter is being paid, then doesn’t that qualify as commercial use? Yes, it does, but we nonetheless make an exception for such uses and actually encourage that our videos be featured in presentations, AS LONG AS THEY ARE NOT MODIFIED INTO DERIVATIVE WORKS and AS LONG AS OUR BRANDING REMAINS INTACT. We want our videos to be used in presentations, but we also want our organization to be recognized for its contribution so that we receive continued support from donors.

Should you have any questions about what constitutes appropriate usage, please contact us with details.

COMMERCIAL USE OF VIDEO FOOTAGE:

Practically all of our video footage may be licensed for commercial use, via the copyright holders of the footage. Please contact us with a description of the footage you desire to use and we will put you in touch with the owner or owners.
